Knights of all degrees, and their wives, are entitled to specific titles that apply to both written and spoken forms of address. Knights of the Order prefix Sir to their given names and may use the appropriate postnominal letters of their current rank: KGCR (Knight Grand Cross of Rizal), KGOR (Knight Grand Officer of Rizal), KCR (Knight Commander of Rizal), KOR (Knight Officer of Rizal), or KR (Knight of Rizal). Wives of knights prefix Lady to their given names regardless of whether they use their husband’s surname or their own.
Knights have the right to wear the insignia and vestments of the Order at all appropriate occasions, such as Philippine Independence Day or Rizal Day celebrations, in accordance with the Order’s Amended By-Laws and the Order of Wear of the Philippines. The Order’s ranks and insignia are formally recognized by the Honors Code of the Philippines and designates the Order as seventh in precedence.
All medals and awards given by the Order are considered awards given by the Republic of the Philippines.
As a state-chartered order and due to our shared history with the celebrations, the Knights of Rizal join the President of the Republic of the Philippines, the Armed Forces, as well as other government agencies and cultural groups at the national ceremonies of Rizal Day at Rizal Park in Manila every year on December 30 to observe and remember the martyrdom of Dr. Jose P. Rizal.
